Gridlock™ Cement Instructions and Advice for Application:
Gridlock™ cement has an affinity for water and has been designed to work in an area where blood or oral fluids might be present. This type of hydrophilic cement simplifies the cementation procedure and permits a more conservative approach vis-à-vis bone removal around the impacted tooth.

Gridlock™ is an excellent product; however, as with all dental materials, it must be handled properly in order to be successful. The following hints and tips will enable you to easily use this cement on a routine basis.

Prior to Cementation- Materials, Disposables and Supplies:
Armamentarium: The following instruments and materials will facilitate the placement and cementation of the brackets:

• DET-91 E-MERGE Double-Ended Delivery Instrument with Adhesive dots. [And / or PLTS-96 Natural E-MERGE Placement Instrument. And / or PLTC-96 Natural E-MERGE Placement Instrument (curved). Note: Probably the PLTC-96 is the most universal instrument.]

• GLK-16 Gridlock™ Kit

• Pure flour of pumice and prophy cup.

• Cotton swab(s)

• Alcohol

Before using Gridlock™, please note the following:
Each dispenser is FOR SINGLE USE. Multiple brackets can be attached, but after the procedure, discard the cement carpule. Once the seal is broken, the cement is exposed to air and humidity, and therefore cannot be stored for later use. Keep your unused carpules of Gridlock™ refrigerated.

How to apply Gridlock™ 195 Bracket Cement:
As with any cementation medium, Gridlock cement must be correctly applied. The steps are simple and easy to follow, but each step must be performed correctly.

Step 1: Select and prepare the appropriate bracket:
Once the bracket of choice has been selected (and contoured, if necessary), clean the face of the bracket with a cotton swab and alcohol, wash thoroughly and set aside to air dry.

Step 2: Prepare the surface of the tooth:
Flush the tooth with water and isolate the tooth surface to control bleeding. Blood, debris and tooth pellicle are removed by using flour of pumice (note: pure flour of pumice must be used. Prophy pastes contain oils and flavoring that will contaminate the tooth surface.)

Step 3: Etch the tooth:
Apply etchant to clean and dry surface of tooth. Allow etchant to remain on tooth for 1 minute by the clock. After 1 minute has elapsed, rinse off etchant and blow-dry the surface of the tooth. The etched surface should have a “frosted” appearance. If this is not apparent, etching was unsuccessful. Repeat procedure until frosted tooth surface is evident.

Step 4: Moisten the tooth surface:
The tooth must be wet for the cement to be activated.

Step 5: Snip off the tip of the Gridlock™ carpule approximately 1/8” from the tip:
The orifice of the tip should be small. Pick up the bracket with the instrument of choice and apply a thin layer of cement to the face of the bracket. Remember, a thin layer.

Step 6: Place the bracket onto the moistened tooth surface:
You have 5 seconds to position the bracket correctly.

Step 7: Hold the bracket steady:

Keeping firm contact with the tooth, hold this way for 15-30 seconds by the clock.

Step 8: After holding the bracket steadily and firmly:
Remove the placement instrument and allow the bracket to remain undisturbed for 5 minutes by the clock.

Step 9: Gently ligate the chain into place:
Activation forces can be applied 5 minutes after ligation.
